The Bihar Bijli Smart Meter, also known as the prepaid meter, incorporates special functionalities to ensure uninterrupted power supply under specific circumstances, even if the meter credit is depleted.
Notably, during designated “Happy hours,” the meter is intelligently programmed to continue running without disconnecting the power supply, irrespective of the meter balance. Consequently, the meter amount will increment negatively during this period. These Happy hours are scheduled from 17:30 to 11:00 on Sundays and fixed holidays such as 26th January, 15th August, 2nd October, and others.
Example:
If your meter balance runs out by 6:00 PM on Saturday, don’t worry! Your meter won’t disconnect your electricity because it’s currently in the happy hours mode. During this time, the meter will start counting the amount used in a negative direction.
On Sunday, the meter will continue debiting the amount used without disconnecting your electricity. However, the happy hours will end on Monday at 11:00 AM. Until then, the meter will keep debiting the amount used, and once the happy hours are over, it will automatically disconnect the load.
During this period, the meter’s amount register will display a negative balance. To reconnect your electricity, you’ll need to credit the meter with an amount greater than the debited amount. The debited amount will be automatically deducted first, and then normal operation will resume.
